I Moved Out Of State For A Job Opportunity. Can I Break My NJ Lease?
I was offered a job opportunity I couldn't turn down. I signed a 1 year lease in NJ. Being fair, I asked the landlord if he could change the 1 year lease to a 6 month lease, (which would be 03/2008. He said that he could let me out effective 06/2008. However, I am unable to continue paying rent down in NJ & pay on a mortgage out of state. Can I break my lease? Can he garnish my wages, etc. Take me to court if I stop paying him rent?
