Where Is The 'Bikini Girls' Mosaic?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The 'bikini girls' mosaic is located at Villa Romana del Casale. Viila Romana del Casale is located at a distance of about five kilometres from the town of Piazza Armerina in Sicily, Italy. It is on the United Nations Educational, Social and Cultural Organisation's (UNESCO) list of world heritage sites. It is the largest, richest and the most complex and intricate collection of ancient Roman mosaics in the world. The 'bikini girls' mosaic came into existence circa 300 A.D. It depicts a series of skimpily-clad women, wearing two-piece bathing suits (which are now known as bikinis) and exercising or taking part in athletic events. Some of the individual paintings that are collectively known as the 'bikini girls' mosaic are graphical representations of bikini-clad sportswomen, and they depict women exercising, running or receiving the palm of honour and crown (the award for winning an athletic meet). Others show them less clearly.
