Can A Collection Agency Continue To Call You At A Home Not Owned By You?
My boyfriend is fed up with a collection agency calling his home constantly for me, his girlfriend. She has spoken to the agency and have told them her situation. The agency continues to call when she asked them to stop the harassment? How can they be stopped from calling everyday?
Answers
Collection agencies have representatives working for them. So if she has informed one of them or two who called perhaps now someone who is not aware of the new changes is calling. This can only be stopped by writing in to them or going there in person to pay off the dues and get the name cancelled once for all.

I am pretty sure that they are not allowed to make more than two phone calls to you in seven business days. I also know that they are not allowed to share information regarding someone else's dept with anyone other than the doctor. If you have informed them that the debtor doesn't reside at the home they should stop calling. They have people finding "engines" that provide phone numbers, addresses, and names of relatives. They will continue to call until they find your boyfriends ex or they'll garnish her wages. Another option is to simply change your phone number. Since the ex-girlfriend obviously never registered herself with your new number they won't have a reason or way to call you and your boyfriend anymore. Collection Agencies can be very aggressive in collecting money especially if it's owed from student loans or any other dept owed to the Government.
