How Long Can Store Bought Eggs (uncooked, Still In Shell) Be Out Of The Fridge?

I went grocery shopping today and about 4 hours later went to go make some eggs...then realized I had left them on the counter. They've been kept at regular room temperature but unsure if they are still good.

To check if an egg is still good, place the egg in a large bowl of water (enough water to cover the egg if it were placed in the water vertically.)

      1.  If the egg sinks to the bottom, it is fresh.

      2.  If the egg sinks but it is vertical, it is still okay to eat but you need to buy    more eggs next time you go to the store.

      3.  If the egg floats, throw it out right away.

That happened to me about one month ago.  I went to the lake and came back and found my eggs still on the counter.  I still used them and we had no problem and we did not get sick.

Many countries do not refrigerate eggs at all! So be brave, they're fine. You could test them by the float method if you left them out for weeks on end.
