    One of the most renowned Prime Minister Britain ever had, Winston Churchill was the pioneer strategist who gave key positions even to the leaders of opposition party.

    It was during his tenure as Prime Minister (1941-1945) of Britain when the Germans tried to the change the world order and they attacked all the neighbours of the Great Britain and Britain's own sovereignty was in danger.

    It was a towering personality like him, who along with his staunch ally The United States, shaped strategy to counter Hitler and the Japanese.  

    He was not only a master politician however a man of literary genius also. He wrote many books and was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature also. His books include 'The Story of the Malakand Field force', 'The River war' and 'London to Ladysmith'.

      Churchill, Winston, Leonard Sir was a British Statesman; He was born at Blenheim in 1874 in a respectable family.

      In 1907 He was appointed under-secretary of the state for colonies. Later he took an active part in the World War I and in the years immediately following the war, he held in succession the posts of secretary of sate for war and for air. In 1922, he temporarily disappeared from the political scene. In 1924, he returned to politics. In 1941 Mr. Churchill met with the US President Franklin D. Roosevelt to set up a world organization for the prevention of future wars. From 1945 until 1951 was leader of the opposition in the House of Commons, and thus he continued to have some influence upon the course of affairs at home. In 1951, he be came prime minister of Great Britain.

      He received the O.M. in 1946 and was created K.G. in 1953. On April 5 he resigned. He also won the noble prize for literature in 1953. Amongst his good books are "World Crises (4volumes), Life of his Father and Memories of the Second World War". He was died in 1965.
