I Have A Phillips TV With A Tuner A And A Tuner B On The Back Of The Set What Are These For?

Answer Question

Your Phillips television set has two tuners, namely tuner A and tuner B. The two tuners make it possible for you to avail of the picture-in-picture feature. The picture-in-picture feature is a feature which allows you to view two video sources simultaneously. One of the pictures appears as an inset in a small window on the television screen.

While tuner A enables you to tune the picture in the larger part of the screen, the smaller picture can be tuned with the help of tuner B. Single-tuner picture-in-picture (which is abbreviated as single-picture PIP) lets you watch television in one window. You can watch another source such as a digital video disc (which is abbreviated as DVD) in the other window.

A set with two tuners, on the other hand, enables you to watch two television programmes at the same time. Some cable boxes, however, will only allow you to watch one scrambled signal at one time. They effectively disable the PIP function.
