First you have to have hiv...which you get from sexual contact,sharing needles, sometimes blood transfussions.there is not an exact time for hiv to spread to aids but the time is average 8 to 12 yrs.if you are taking treatment for hiv then you can live a normal life, but you will be taking meds the rest of your life or until they find a cure.
