How Has E-bay Maintained Its Position In The Auction Market?

Since being launched eleven years ago e-bay has maintained a philosophy that out in the world there is a buyer for anything and everything and anyone can sell a business model. Which has helped e-bay maintain its position in the auction market to a large extent.

E-bay the online auction site was created in San Jose, California on September 4th, 1995. It was developed by Pierre Omidyar and was called Auction Web. It was more like a personal web site as it included a number of personal things.

One of the earliest items sold on e-bay by him was a broken laser pointer which fetched him $ 13.83, this surprised him to a large extent and he wrote a mail to the buyer which said do u realise the laser pointer is broken, to which he got a reply which read as "I am a collector of broken Laser pointers". This is one of the main reasons why e-bay believes in the theory there is a buyer for each and every thing.
