What Do You Do In A Blizzard?

Answer Question

Stay indoors; there is nothing that beats staying doors if there is a blizzard. If you are caught outdoors and need to take temporary shelter then avoid any kind of strenuous activity. This will help conserve your energy levels if the blizzard refuses to cease.

Wear multiple layers of clothing. The outer layers must tightly wrap your body. It is imperative that you wear woolen headgear as most of the heat escapes from the head. If you have to travel then try not to travel alone. Do not rely on phones in case you are on the road or even at home because blizzards have a tendency to wreck phone lines.

Carry matchboxes and torches but do not burn anything inside a vehicle. A fire burns because of the presence of oxygen. You will end up using the oxygen within the vehicle. Try to park in a place so that the car is sheltered from one side. This will enable you to keep at least one window open.

The term blizzard defines a phenomenon in which very strong wind blows and is combined with snow. You can define a strong wind as blizzard when the wind is blowing at 35 mph or more and the visibility during it is one fourth of a mile or even less.

If we talk of the precautions that needs to be taken during blizzard, the first thing that needs to be suggested is that you should head directly towards your home and to find the number of your house, you should take precaution even earlier as in most of the cities you have the option of painting the number of your home in the curb style and you can find it easily. When you are inside your home you should make sure that every member of your home should have a blanket of theirs and other warm cloths to cover themselves.

Usually it happens that the city authorities issue the warning of blizzard much earlier and when they warn you, you should collect food for at least seventy-two hours so that there would be no problem of starvation to your family members and you. So take precaution and be safe during a blizzard.
