How Do You Read A Scale?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

There are various types of scales which are available nowadays. The most common is the metric scale which can measure centimeters and millimeters (and inches). When a metric scale is read then reading starts from zero. One large division is one centimeter and one small division is millimeter. When two large divisions are read then it means two centimeters. After that if millimeter values are also counted then each small line or a very small division is one millimeter, therefore, if between 2 centimeter and 3 centimeter there are nine lines then one line means 2 centimeters and 1 millimeter, then 2 centimeters and 2 millimeters and so on. On the other hand, vernier caliper and screw gauge require a systematic way to read the scale.
