ISDN, was considered to be a good solution for quick Internet access. ISDN is an extremely costly, 128kbps dial-up connection. By ISDN, a client pays a per-minute usage. DSL, in contrast, is a connection that is all the time "on". There is no dialing up with DSL, no usage based fees, DSL is more lucrative solution, and DSL is quicker than isdn, as speed is from 144 kbps - 1.5 mbps.
