How Does A Seed Grow?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

In order to grow seeds require certain necessities such as water, air, soil and sunshine. When a seed receives water it begins to grow. The process of a plant developing from a seed is referred to as germination. The seed contains enough nutrients and energy within it to start out on its own.

It begins by sending out a radical which travels towards the ground and tries to draw nutrients from the soil. This is followed by the appearance of the plumule or stem of the plant which travels upwards and will become the stalk of the plant in the future. The radical starts forming roots and the plunule develops leaves. The seed is no more and it has given way to a brand new plant. Simple experiments of placing seeds in wet cotton over a period of days will reveal the process of growth.
