A non-invasive cardiologist is engaged in analyzing and interpreting results of diagnostic tests done on patients for detecting cardiac conditions. The focus of the non-invasive cardiologist is to examine the likelihood of cardiovascular problems in the patient.
The two types of most common diagnostic tests being conducted to detect cardiovascular problems are Electrocardiography tests and Echocardiography tests. Each of these tests is administered to a patient under the careful observation of a non-invasive cardiologist.
Electrocardiography tests used by non-invasive cardiologists include exercise stress testing, standard 12-lead ECG, signal averaged ECG, continuous ambulatory ECG, cardiac event recording and tilt table testing among others. Echocardiography tests used for examining the possibility of cardiovascular problems include transthoracic test, stress and pharmacologic echo test, contrast echo test, and transesophageal test among others.
Non-invasive cardiology has achieved tremendous technical advances in recent years including improved visualisation of anatomy and better physiological markers of heart functioning. The importance of non-invasive cardiologist is also increasing to administer various tests and to monitor progress.
