What Breed Of Dog Is The Best To Have As A Pet?
I would like one that is friendly yet not too giddy/energetic since I might not have enough time to walk it. Also, I would like one which is easy to teach. Although, I don't those breed of dogs which are too small.

No one breed is the best to have as a pet. It all depends on what the prospective owner is looking for. Does he have children? Does he live in a house or an apartment? In the city or the suburbs? All of these things and more need to be taken into consideration.
It seems as if you already have some characteristics in mind, Now you have to do some research. Speak to a vet or a breeder or even the SPCA or someone at a shelter. Do some research on the net. You'd be surprised to know how many people make up their minds without knowing what they might be getting into, only to find that they made a mistake and that particular dog isn't for them. Good luck, and remember that owning a dog is like having a child. It's a great responsibility.

It is true that you have to think about more than just a breed. I have four breeds of daogs at my house and two of my six dogs are the same breed but they have two totally different personalities. Both are active but one of them will lay down in my lap as soon as I pick it up and the other seems to have a never ending burst of energy. Here are a couple of things for you to consider. 1) What type of housing are you in? 2) How often will you be able to walk the dog and for how long? 3) Are there any kids in the home or do you have kids come over with some of your friends? 4) Do you have other animals of any type [caged or not]? 5) How big or little of a dog can you afford to feed? 6) What age dog do you want? 7) Where will you keep the dog at while out working or running errands?
Now you have do the research and see what will fit your life stlye? Ask around but always remember that just about any puppy in every breed will be hyper and active because of the puppy hood in them, just like kids.
If you want you can go to www.petfinders.com and look at the many different breeds of puppies and grown dogs that are up for adoption. And if you want to you can e-mail some of shelters and humane societies and ask them questions about the different types of dogs. You can also go to www.pedigreepuppy.com to look at the different types of breeds of dogs and it will even tell you the temperament, exercise needed, and the train ability of that particular breed. I wish you te best of luck in finding your new companion.

Ok i would say get it as a puppy to start with .I think any dog you get is the best to you .Here is an example i have a miniture pinchser and i think she is the best type of dog to get ,and my friend has a cocker spaniel and she think hers is the best type to get .so you see no matter the type of dog .It is up to you as the owner to make it the best dog for you .But get it as a puppy.
