How Do I Backup Files To A DVD?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

DVDs are a great way to backup your files from your computer. A standard single layer DVD can store 4.7GB of data. A dual layer DVD can store 8.5GB of data.  If you use a compression program you'll be able to store even more files on your DVD.

You'll need a DVD Writer in order to start backing up your files. The speed of the writer all depends on what type of DVD drive you have. 1x DVD write speed indicates that the DVD writer can burn your data roughly the same speed that a DVD player can read a DVD. So if your DVD writer writes at 16x that's 16 times faster.

DVD Shrink is a fantastic tool for shrinking DVD video discs to on to just one DVD-R disc. It's easy to use as well which make it the perfect software for all your DVD compression needs.
