My son says it is the earths gravitational pull between the earth and the sun between one side of the earth to the other. (day and night)

First of all the first answer is wrong.The ocean tides are cause by the moon's gravity i know this because i have the teacher that knows almost everything.i learn a lot from him.also there are 2 high tides and 2 low tides.
