In California Do Tenants Get Interest On Security Deposit?

We where asked to move out of the house we rented for 18yrs, our landlord gave us our deposit, but what about interest? In what cases does the deposit accumulate interest?

Interest is paid on the deposit In California, except for a few cities such as Berkeley where the landlord is not required to pay interest on a tenant's security deposit. The rate varies however on an annual or semi-annual basis.

Quite the opposite!!! In CA, landlords are NOT obligated to interest on security deposits except in San Fran, Berkeley and Santa Monica.
