In California Do Tenants Get Interest On Security Deposit?

We where asked to move out of the house we rented for 18yrs, our landlord gave us our deposit, but what about interest? In what cases does the deposit accumulate interest?

    Yes if it is under a rent controlled lease which 90025 is. The housing authority has a list of the interest rates the landlord is lawfully required to pay you, it can go from under 1% to 5% depending on different circumstances which I do not know.

      Yes you do get  interest. Go to renters rights in the search.  Starts same as a bank.

      It's your money drawing interest not theres.  Figures I gave you came off off - landlord & tennant laws.

        Interest is paid on the deposit In California, except for a few cities such as Berkeley where the landlord is not required to pay interest on a tenant's security deposit. The rate varies however on an annual or semi-annual basis.

        Quite the opposite!!! In CA, landlords are NOT obligated to interest on security deposits except in San Fran, Berkeley and Santa Monica.
