    The two primary components to losing weight are a) Lower calorie intake (eat less) and b) Expend more energy. My recommendation is a combination of both. Don't go on some funky fad diet. To lower your caloric intake, I would suggest you replace a number of the bad (high calorie) foods with lower calorie foods. One example would be to eat a chicken sandwich made with a boneless skinless broiled piece of chicken instead of a hamburger. Go through what you eat a lot of and simply substitute better, lower calorie things. At the same time increase your activities (walk more, take the stairs, etc.) Hope this helps.
