Sexing a snake is a very dangerous thing and it is highly recommended that you let a vet do that for you. For beginners, there is the tip of the snake's tail, exactly from where it starts to taper, should be observed. Its larger for males and relatively smaller in females. Also there are spurs that are pretty obvious on the tip of the snake on the underbelly females don't have them.

The most accurate way is to have the snake probed. I'd be REAL careful who I allowed to probe my snake. If done wrong or forced it will damage and can kill the snake.

Some species have other identifiers, but short of seeing it lay eggs or bear young, probing is how it is done for many many flavors of snake.

On it's underside right where you would imagine it to be, you will see what appears to be a trap door. If it is long and narrow, by long I don't mean inches, it is a male . If it is sort of shaped like an acorn it is female.
