People of lesbian and gay community can enjoy their usual life with freedom in Copenhagen and there will be no peering eyes haunting them. And this makes it one of the most popular destinations for gay people in the world.
The gay community is quite active in Copenhagen and has plenty of nightlife options for it. Even the public display of affection among gay community is quite common here and never arouses public anger. Copenhagen even celebrates a lesbian festival every year in August which is named as the Mermaid Pride Parade. There is also a Lesbian Film Festival held in October every year and gay community feels free to express itself in the festival.
Denmark is the first country in Europe to legalise gay marriages in 1989 and it has one of the oldest national organisations of lesbians established way back in 1948.
