The word law is derived from the old English word lagu. Aristotle was the first who felt that it was better to have a Rule of Law than a Rule of People.

In modern society, Law is something that is created by governments or parliaments of a country. A law basically delivers individual rights and responsibilities. Some of the most important subjects in law are Contract, Tort, Property Law, Trusts, public law, international law and criminal law.

The two most influential personalities on the philosophy of law were Hans Kelsen and HLA Hart.  Hart argues that law is understood as a social norm. However, the nature of law today is focuced on two issues basically, exclusive legal positivism and inclusive legal positivism. Hans Kelsen is a very well known for his theory of Grundnorm, which is still influential worldwide.
