Baton Rouge is in Louisiana situated near the Mississippi River and has a vibrant culture. It's well known for its food and live music events. The name translated literally means Red Stick which is what the locals tend to call it. Here are some of the attractions this city has to offer:
1 – Magnolia Mound Plantation
Being one of the oldest buildings to exist in Louisiana it dates back to the 18th century. Once queued for demolition it was saved and now there are tours around it.
2 – Louisiana Art & Science Museum
This museum's exhibitions are all housed quite spectacularly in a train depot and it has many surprises to see. One of the coolest attractions is the Egyptian treasure on display. Followed closely by the space travel simulator!
3 – Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center
Don't be put off by the name. This 65 acre cypress swamp is home to some fantastic wildlife. You can see alligators, bobcats, foxes and much more.
4 – Argosy Casino
This isn't any old casino. This casino is based on a 3 leveled river boat! It has all your favourites including Craps, Blackjack, Poker, Roulette and over 800 slot machines.
5 – Old State Capitol
This stunning building is the Centre for Political and Government History. The attraction boasts some slick state of the art exhibits and full multi media displays. Don't miss the animatronic governor!
