Chiropody is the former word for podiatry. It's a care and study of the foot.

Nowadays "chiropody" is usually taken to refer to that part of podiatry practice that involves the treatment of skin and/or toenail problems of the feet.

"Podiatry" extends the scope of practice to include biomechanical assessment and treatment, sports injuries, assessment of the feet of people with diabetes, surgery and so on.
