Does Health Insurance Guarantee Medical Coverage?

Answer Question

11 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Of course not. Health insurance is just that - a policy that insures you against certain medical conditions should they arise. If you contract a disease or a condition that is not in the policy, you're on your own. Prime example? You are the breadwinner, and you have insurance that covers your wife and children. But in 99% of all policies in the USA, if your child comes down with a catastrophic illness, such as childrens luekemia or any form of cancer, the policy has severe limitations on the coverage. This way, if the treatment is going to require a couple of years of care, their commitment to you usually will expire in the first two or three months, as you use up the limited dollars they have written into the policy. And the great Obama hasn't even addressed this glaring issue in medical insurance. And don't expect him to - kids can't vote.

NO!  I have been denied claims over and again for the lamest reasons.  I have to pay my own insurance for me and 2 kids, and it is costly.  Yet when I file a claim, it is not covered.  I had to go to the ER 2 times last summer with pneumonia, and my c ompany denied the claims stating that pneumonia is not a covered illness,.

It depends on what type of plan u have and what they cover. Hey with this new president, pretty soon we can all quit our jobs and go on welfare and not have to worry about it. Everything will be covered!

If you watch the documentary "Sicko" By Michael Moore, it will show you the racket and who got it up and running. Some people may have decent cover but for the ordinary person on the street they will try to wriggle out of every claim.  So much so that the investigators earn bonuses by coming up with anything in your past that they can use as a false declaration by the customer. But they will do anything to earn that bonus.

I'm incline to think not as the insurance company want to do the job of the doctor in other words if the doctor orders a medication for you and they say they will only pay for generic and you are paying for the insurance, this has been a complaint for a long time, just be a medical insurance company and stop trying to dictate what a doctor can and can not order for a patient, insurance companies are being paid but give crappy service or pick and choose what they will and will not pay for....my story and I'm sticking to it.....

You are right! Not all generics are the same as the original no matter what they tell you.

Yes, heath insurance does guarantee the medical coverage your particular policy mandates.  However  not all policies cover all situations.  There are dedutables, pre-existing conditions, ceiling caps for certain illnesses or limits for how long you can stay in a hospital or how many pints of blood you are entitled to have in a given surgery, etc.  You need to read ALL the fine print in your policy.  Some companies try to save money on their employee's insurance and the coverage is not always good.  There are some really crummy insurance companies out there that really deny coverage for a variety of reasons.  Unfortunately, this travesty to the American worker makes Obama's liberal idea of socialized medicine seem plausible.  It is not!  But the Insurance companies need to start serving the public instead of gauging them.  But there are some companies that are really good and give wonderful coverage in a timely manner.  They even have patient hot lines to help you in medical emergencies.  Free enterprise is for thinking adults who can take responsiblity for their own welfare by  researching any company with which they do business.

Not always would be my first thought. However it does make getting medical attention that much easier to receive.

I dont think so. Many people have health insurance but are finding that their coverage is not paying for certain procedures or things needed. Everyone's situation and circumstances are different and require different coverage and plans. Seek for one that would be best for you and your family.

I dont think it does. Many people have health insurance but are finding that heir plans are not covering certain procedures or things needed. I think one should seek for a plan that is best for them. Everyone has different circumstances and situations therefore you must find a plan that is best for your family. Having health insurance does not mean that you are covered.

No, it doesn't guarantee that it will cover all things that need medical attention. Heck, I don't think that it covers much of anything, and even then you practically have to tell them that you are going to sue them to get anything done for you. Ugh!!
