In What Ways Do Laws Like The Americans With Disabilities Act Affect Human Services Organizations?

The Americans w/ Disabilities Act  was implemented to ensure equal rights for those w/ handicaps and disabilities. It helps to protect those groups from discrimination and  empowers them to make informed choices. Most Human services organizations have a mission statement which might include self advocacy, person centered planning, community inclusivness and independence. One of the most important reasons for this law was to ensure accessibility to all public and private entities such as transportation,    handicapped parking, handicap ramps on buildings and sidewalks, hand rails and bars on walls and in public bathrooms. Some movie theatres also have designated wheelchair seating areas.
