There are several places of interest in Kendal and the surrounding area.
On the western edge of the town sit the ruins of Kendal castle. The ruins date back to the 12th century when the castle was rebuilt. The castle was derelict though by 1571.
Some other attractions in and around Kendal are Abbot Hall Art Gallery, Museum of Lakeland Life, Kendal Museum, and Brewery Arts Complex.
