You haven't installed the D-Link Router on Windows 98 SE properly. The point is that windows 98 doesn't support many new devices as Windows XP has taken the place of 98. Windows XP provides extensive support of different hardwares which windows 98 doesn't have. Your installation CD must have D-Link Router driver for 98. Otherwise, you will not be able to run internet on it.

I managed to get the router to work by running Microsoft Setup and Network Utility Disc on pc that runs Windows 98SE . I got the disc with the PCI Adapter MN-130 that I had used before I purchased PC with Windows XP . So I can access the internet and files with both PC's.
