What Is There To Do In Alaska? And When Is The Best Time To Visit?

Can you build an igloo? Do people still build igloos?

July I think is the best time to visit, the sun tends to be out more, and the temperatures are up into the upper 70s and sometimes the mid 80s. There is fishing and camping in the summer, as well as hiking, boating, swimming, whale watching, riding the boats for the fjord tours, (fjord is the sounding of the word) The state fair is in late August, early Sept. And in the winter the weather can be mild or harsh. From the 30s all the way down to -40 up in Barrow Ak. But I don't live there, here in Anchorage, the temps can get down to -30 for an extreme.
We do not live in igloos as the myth indicates, and very seldom is there an igloo made, now they are made just to keep the knowledge of how to make them with the traditions of the people. The Island of Kodiak, is the second largest Island in the world, and it is a beautiful place to see. The salmon there in the rivers are so thick, that you could almost cross the stream by stepping on them. How's that miss?
