The medicine Buscopan is used for muscle spasms of the stomach, intestine, bile duct, reproductive or the urinary systems.

Medicines can affect a person in different ways. Some of the possible side effects of Buscopan are dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, skin allergy, problems in urinating, increase in heartbeat and decrease in decrease in ability to sweat. All the side effects are not mentioned by the manufacturer.

Buscopan may cause blurred vision, pain in the eye; headache and one may see haloes around lights. It may disrupt one's ability to drive a vehicle properly or work with machines. In such cases one should consult the doctor immediately and avoid doing the above tasks.

One should be careful while using Buscopan during pregnancy and should be used only if the benefit that is expected is more than the risk to the foetus. Even nursing mothers needs to be careful. In there is a problem it needs to be discussed with a doctor immediately.

During the two times I have been given buscopan (via a drip), I have experienced extreme agitation - like a cat on a hot tin roof. I had to have the drip removed.

I have taken buscopan for 5 years now with very good results. I would like to know if there are any other side effects such as wider belly than before coming from the long time of treatment?

I am currently taking Buscopan for stomach pain due to colitis and some of the side effects I have experienced are: Hot/cold flashes, sweaty hands and feet, blurred vision, nausea, shaking, mild twitches, itchiness, restlessness, and muscle weakness. Also, I have noticed that I have a tight feeling in my throat and jaw; when I yawn it makes my throat tighter and my jaw starts to shake.
