I Get Mouth Ulcers Quite Often. Would This Affect Anything If I Got My Lip Pierced?

Answer Question

Mouth ulcers are generally something called apthous stomatitis.  Their precise cause is unknown, but may be related to inflammatory bowel disease (specifically Crohn's Disease) in some patients.  There is no effective treatment, except for barrier ointments that reduce the discomfort.  The good news is that they generally decline in their frequency or resolve altogether after age forty.  They are often related to minor trauma to the oral mucosa, and so, yes, lip piercing may produce them, particularly if the stud causes irritation (especially if you are allergic to a component, usually nickel).  There are a number of other reasons to avoid piercing body parts that include mucosa (tongue, lips, labia, etc.).

I would suggest that you see your physician about these mouth ulcers you keep having. Most ulcers in the mouth are caused from an allergy to something, hygiene issues or a virus of some type. I would say do not get your lip pierced until you know what is causing the ulcers!!

These ulcers untreated could become infected and cause you a more severe problem!!!!!!!
      See your doctor first!!
