How Deep Is Lake Michigan?

    The Lake Michigan is a part of the five great lakes and it is located entirely in the US. The name Michigan is derived form the Ojibwa language word ‘mishigami’ which means great water. The lake’ length is 307 miles while its width is 118 miles and the total area covered by the lake is 22,400 square miles. The average depth of the lake is around 279 feet or 95 meter but there are areas where it is even deeper. The maximum depth of the lake is up to 923 feet which is equivalent to 281 meters. It shares its borders with the states of Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan.
