Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

I have a Maine Coon who has had a small number of bouts with UTI's and gave her antibiotics. I second-hand the Purina one and for a short time it worked huge but this last time the vet suggest a instruction diet for this condition, I have a gentleman cat too and he eats the similar thing it won't harm him, but possibly will protect him from the circumstance. I have no way of creation sure every eats only out of their have possession of bowl so the eat the equal the best for the under the weather one.

Cats with lower urinary disorders (UTI) benefit from watches your weight that can acidify the urine pH (like cranberry juice does for humans). Dry food makes the urine pH more alkaline consequently increasing the danger of recurring infections consequently exasperating the bladder lining.

Wet foodstuff however hydrates a cat acidifying the urine pH so in an ideal world a cat should eat supplementary wet food to minim Mize recurrences. Though dry foods do not reason UTI's, more than a few studies have shown that the cat's entirety fluid intake is reduced when dry diets are fed. At what time the fluid eating is decreased, the urine is supplementary concerted with minerals and supplementary materials that can grounds future episodes of urinary disorders.

Whew!! I'm really not sure exactly what tulip rose was saying, but I can assure you that it's fine to feed your cats the same food, even if it's for urinary tract. I was blessed with one cat that was chronically constipated, and another that suffered with chronic uti's from the time she was 4 years old (she's almost 18 now). I fed them a Science Diet prescription food at first. Neither cat cared for the food. I then fed them Purina One Urinary Tract food. They both did fine, and thrived on the Purina One. I also fed them a can of Friskies Special Diet, which is also for urinary tract problems. I diluted the canned food, because the more water you can get in a cat with uti's, the better. When my male cat began having problems with constipation, the vet suggested Purina One Sensitive Systems. My cats would not eat out of separate bowls, so I mixed equal parts of each food in the bowl. That way, they were getting their food along with the other. It worked well, and eventually my female started having less problems with uti's. Good luck with your kitties, I'm sure they'll do just fine.
