As per my elders suggestions, the minimum sleep required by a man is eight hours continuous sleep. But nowadays many people are more interested in other activities than sleep. But we will be very much more active, if we have a good sleep of 8 hours.

0-3 needs about 14 hours a day
3-6 needs about 12 a day
6-12 needs about 9 a day
12-14 needs about 8 a day
15-18 needs about 7 a day
18-50 needs minimum 5 a day
50-90 needs about 9 a day
