What Are Some Good Christmas Toys For An 18 Month Old?

All of these are suitable for boys or girls:

Shape sorters.  The thingies where child has to find the right shape/size item to fit into a particular slot.  These are big hits from about 18months until nearly 2 and a half.

Peg-board puzzles.  Where each piece has a little peg in it for easy handling, and goes into it's own slot.  This capitalises on improvements in hand-eye coordination at about this age.

Magnetic sketch boards (and similar).  This includes the Tomy Aquadraw range of products.  The multi-colour luminescence boards are better left until child is older, though, and watch out for any small parts in some of the boards.

Wooden train sets, trains and track.  The types compatible with Brio; most of the Supermarket makes are good quality and value for money.  

Toy pushchairs.  Girls lovingly tuck their dolls and animals in.  Boys may also choose dolls or teddies, but also like to put their trains, lorries and cars in, or tie them with rope to other toys and drag both around together.
