Can It Damage Your Hearing Being A DJ?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Dj's can be exposed to a high level of noise throughout their careers. This exposure can definitely result in damage to the hearing of the dj if proper precautions aren't taken. It is very easy for the noise to slowly cause major damage to the hearing capability of the dj. One big misconception about this problem is that the only way that one could suffer hearing loss as a result of loud music is if it is extremely loud and it happens right away. They fail to realize that continued exposure to loud music, even if it isn't loud enough to cause immediate serious damage, can still have the same impact as an extremely loud blast of music over time. There are several steps that djs can take to help lower their risk of experiencing hearing problems. These steps include positioning the dj behind the dance floor speakers, purchase special headphones for djs, consult a physician, and try to give your ears a break for about 24 hours after exposure to loud music. This will help protect one of the dj's most important assets, his ear for the music.
