Can Anyone Tell Me Something About The Affects Of Radiations On Human Body?

Answer Question

When a living tissue is exposed to radiation, the energy absorbed may produce chemical changes in the cells which affect cell metabolism. Large molecules may be broken up or free radicals, capable of initiating chemical changes, may be produced. These changes may be sufficiently damaging to lead to death of individual cells, chromosome abnormalities or mutations, resulting in a characteristic not contained in the parent cell.

The biological effects are generally of two types – somatic and genetic. Somatic effects affect an individual directly. Some of the common somatic effects of radiation are skin burns, loss of hair, ulceration, stiffening of the lings, an induction of contracts in the eyes, and a drop in the white blood cells which is followed by a sickness pattern of diarrhea, vomiting and fever known as radiation sickness. Recovery is possible from small acute doses but shortening of life span is inevitable.

The most feared somatic effect of radiation is the induction of many types of cancer. High levels of radiation covering whole body may be disrupt the blood cells so seriously that life cannot be maintained and death is likely to occur. The genetic effects may become apparent after a long period. Radiation can alter the chemistry of the genes and may cause mutations, which are changes in the genetic messages within the cells. As a result the subsequent cells may be abnormal, and the genetic effects arising may be passed on to the future generations.

The radio waves at present used for telecommunication or distribution are electromagnetic waves (non-ionizing radiation) which do not have sufficient energy to ionize atoms from materials. Although a few of the electromagnetic waves, such as ionizing radiation with X-ray or gamma-ray, have high frequencies and strapping energy that ionize atoms, they are very unusual from the radio waves we are dealing with; that is non-ionizing rays.

The effects of these rays are highly unsafe and deadly. When our tone would once be defeated by the UV rays, we would knowledge instant death. X-rays, if took often can grounds cancer. Gamma rays can too cause great damage in our body. Lastly, the radiation of oven waves is very injurious since it can cause a lot of burnt damage in our stiff if experienced.

The appealing thing about radiation is that it's a origin of cancer and also a therapy for cancer. Radiation results in mutations in your DNA which basis faulty replication and unusual proteins to be synthesized. Often times when you accumulate compound mutations you wind up with a cancerous cell.
