A minister who is also known as a secretary is basically a politician who holds some kind of important public office in a particular national or local administration. Senior ministers are members who belong to the cabinet, more often than not who are led by an emperor, Governor General, or leader.

The term minister is basically derived from the Latin word, which means a "servant" (or first servant). However in countries like the US, Hong Kong, the Philippines and the UK, such individuals are referred to as a secretary or secretary of state. Some of the different types of ministers are Prime minister, Foreign minister, Defence minister, Education minister, Environment minister, Finance minister, Interior minister (or Home minister), Health minister, Justice minister and Minister of Culture.
