Amy Lynn Carter was defended by Attorney Leonard Weinglass. He is a civil rights activists as well being a lawyer. He has also defended other notables including Jane Fonda, Angela Davis and Ron Kaufman, and Bill and Emily Harris. He is known primarily as defending those who lean towards left wing politics.
President Jimmy Carter's daughter Amy Lynn Carter was known for the various protests she was involved in during her youth. Most of these protests were related to the foreign policy of the United States towards Central America and South Africa. In 1987 during a protest against CIA recruitment taking place at the University of Massachusetts she along with Abbie Hoffman, a fellow activist, was arrested. The trial took place in Northampton, Massachusetts and was very much publicized. It resulted in a complete acquittal.
