In September 2004 the Play Station 2 Slimline was introduced. This was the second version of the Play Station 2. It was much slimmer and thinner than the original version. The only way to get your Play Station 2 repaired for free is if the console is still in the guarantee or warranty period.

The warranty/guarantee period lasts only for a year after purchasing the console. If the console has been opened by any other mechanic apart from official Sony centers, the warranty of the console is void even if it is in the limited period.

If your Play Station 2 Slim is out of the warranty period, then the only way to repair it is by visiting the official Sony Centers in your area. The other way is by giving it to some Video Game Arcade or Shop which can handle your problems. However giving it in a shop would not be assuring as many shop keepers take out the original parts and fix them with fake parts.
