It was the first FA cup final hosted by New Wembley. New Wembly can house 90,000 spectators and has got excellent facilities. The FA cup final was played between newly crowned English Champions Manchester United and Chelsea. Chelsea won two consecutive premiership titles in 2005 and 2006. This season Chelsea finished second behind Manchester United on the points table. Rightly Chelsea and Manchester United are two best teams of the England.
Both the teams gave priority to their defences stability and didn't go for the attacking game. Neither team can produce a single goal in normal 90 minutes so the game went into extra time. It was not before the 116th minute that great skill of Chelsea's striker Drogba ended the parity among the English giants and scored a goal that gifted Chelsea FA cup.
It was Chelsea who controlled the game for large portions of the game and it was their game plan not to give freedom and free space to United. Manchester United creative players like Ronaldo and Ryan Giggs were off-colored throughout a match. Only Rooney created some decent chances for United.
Chelsea players should get admiration for the way they control the proceedings. Especially young players like Mikel and Essien played superbly. Again it was a combination of Lampard and Drogba that produced a winning goal for the Chelsea.

Then, the first period of extra-time was dominated by ManUtd. Ryan Giggs had managed to somehow put the ball in the goal but was not given as a goal because the lines-men did not see it. Score after 1at period of extra-time: 0-0.
