Do You Have Any Suggestions For Sticking To A Diet Plan?

I am trying to lose weight for summer, but I am not having a lot of luck sticking to it. I am not on a specific diet plan, but am trying to eat right, and at the right times. I can't seem to get my mind in the right place, even though I so desperately want to lose the weight. Any suggestion? Thanks!

Here is what has worked for me for over 4 years...call some nicer department store makeup departments and find a digital age enhancer.  They will do this for free.

Have yourself digitally aged 10 years.  You may have to act interested in their product, but you get to keep the picture.  Make the best digital copies you can and put a copy on your fridge...right next to whatever picture that you look at of yourself when you looked your best.

Look at the two pictures every time before you open the fridge.

I lost and have kept off the 30+ lbs for more than 4 years.

It's just too bad I cant market this.

A lot of the diet plan claims a person needs to give up something (carbs; protein; etc). I think that's fine, but I think a good dose of cardio helps in losing weight. So a combination of exercise and monitoring what you eat is very helpful. Stay away from quick schemes of losing weight. They only hurt you physically.

Get a buddy to help. Surely you know someone who has the same goal there. Having a support partner is very helpful. That is why those group programs are so successful, because The group becomes supportive and the results are public.

Eating right  is not the only thing you can do to lose weight. Exercise is a big contribution. Also do not snack even if the snack is healthy. 3 meals a day and no more junk food.!

I've lost 30+ pounds since last fall by doing a couple simple things. 1) Always eat a good breakfast. 2) Eat smaller meals more often... Sensible snacks half-way between meals helps you eat smarter at mealtime because you're not starving. 3) When eating at a restaurant, always ask for a to-go box right away and put half the meal away. Most restaurant serving sizes are 2-3 times what we should eat at any given time. 4) Water ... Every meal and in-between. 5) Get some exercise each day. It can be as simple as taking the steps instead of the elevator.  Good luck!!

Well, just about 5 months ago i started trying to lost weight. I didn't extremely try to watch what i ate and i didn't do a great amount of exercise, but what i did was just balance stuff out and i lost 35 pounds.

Like i would eat chocolate and other nice treats, but i wouldn't eat a lot, and i would make sure that i did some kinda exercise, even just walking a few blocks to the store to get some milk counted.

Also, doing productive things, like going out with friends, makes it so you are doing something active and not stuffing your face full of that bag of chips you have lying around

You need to plan out what you eat and keep track of all the food you take in, in a journal. That way you see what you are eating. That will help. Include how you felt at the time, amount, time, and what you ate in measurable terms, like cup or ounces (to help with that you could serve yourself your usual portion sizes and THEN weigh/measure them-it will be more realistic in showing you how much food you are taking in and that can also help with showing you how much to cut back).

Knowing the time you ate will help you to see if there are any patterns in when you eat. It can help show you when you're most vulnerable to tacking in unnecessary calories and try to avoid them. If there are patterns of times associated with habits (eating when you watch TV, cookies before bed, etc) then it can help show you when you need to avoid the fridge or to be sure to have healthy food available at that time.

Make sure to stay active at least 30 minutes each day.  Include fiber and protein with each meal.  Sometimes having a light snack between meals can be helpful, like an apple with peanut butter, or yogurt with granola.  It can't be a diet, though.  You will need to keep it up for life to keep the weight off.

A lady I know puts up pictures in her exercise's room of sexy actresses, models and such. Also routine is a good key. Keep the junk out of your house, set timers, pre-prepare food ahead of time.

Eat small portions at least 6 times a day> not going longer than 3 hours without eating.

When at the supermarket, buy things you can snack on but that are healthy for you, like snap peas, carrots and almonds. Don't buy things that will tempt you, like cookies or candy. If the food you crave isn't in your cupboard, you won't be able to eat it!
