Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The population of Castleton according to the census conducted in the year 2001 was 1200. Castleton basically is a honeypot village located at Derbyshire Peak District, in England. The village is exactly placed at the western end of the Hope Valley, on the Peakshole Water stream.

Castleton village originally flourished near the Norman Peveril Castle approximately in the year 1198, and grew economically a lot from lead mining. There are hills on all three sides of the village. Most famous ones being Lose Hill and Hollins Cross located towards the north, and the Mam Tor towards the west. The thoroughfare which goes towards the west, to Chapel-en-le Frith and Manchester, used to pass over Mam Tor, but it gave way because of nonstop harm caused by land slides.
