Can An Ear Infection Cause My 9-year-old Shih Tzu To Be Thrown Violently To One Side?

My Shih tzu seems to have a middle ear infection. The Vet gave her a shot of cortisone this morning and put her on antibiotics (she's only had one but she's thrown up since). She has such violent falls that it scares me. For example, I put her outside to do her thing and she flipped completely over her left shoulder. If she forgets and shakes her head, she is thrown about a foot and lands on her side. Could it be something other than an ear infection?

Could be seizures, Id get the vet to give her a THOROUGH check up, inside and out.
    Could still be infection.
Do you pluck her ears often?
Shih tzu's have hair in their ears that grows constantly and if not plucked regularly can cause problems.
