It is the one of the smallest dog in the dogs breed and its name is kept from the Chihuahua state in the Mexico where these are found in abundance. These dogs are small in size; they have large eyes and large ears. The American Kennel club has categorized these dogs in two categories. One is Chihuahua long coat and the second one is Chihuahua smooth coat dogs. The characteristics of long coat Chihuahua are different; they have thin hair as compared to other categories. But some of the long coats Chihuahua have very thick hair. These dogs have usually do not have much height but they are just known by their weight.

These dogs have usually 6 to 10 inches height. But there is some variations in the height some dogs have 12 to 15 inches height. According to the American Standards, these dogs have usually low weight. Every year these dogs participate in the dog shows. These dogs are found in varieties of colors. Generally, they have solid and dark colors dogs. These dogs are available in Fawn, Red, Cream, black, blue and chocolate. These are called stereotyped and they have the nature to bite when they are angry.
