How Do You Make A Roman Shade?

Answer Question

To make a Roman Shade all you need is Fabric, Iron, Needle and thread, Disappear pen, strips of cotton (shade's width plus 3/4 inch by 4 3/4 inches), 1/4-inch pins, 2-by-1-inch wooden board (cut to width of shade), Two 2-by-3-inch swatches of material, staple gun, brass rings, rope lock, Screw eyes, Shade lift cord, Cord condenser and Cord decoration.

In order to give a better and brighter look something in deep bottom pleats as well as patterned fabric will look good. You can use a lightweight cotton liner instead of a blackout fabric. This will help the floral design get some kind of sparkle in the sunlight.

You can take in the size you want but you will need 16 inches to the width and approximately 18 1/2 inches to the length. Now fold the fabric so that a 3 inch wide pleat is created along each side. Now iron it up and then pin it up. Now cut it long enough so that it comfortable fits into the pleats. Put in the pin through the gap, which is in the base hem. Next slide amid the pleats and keep a running stitch so that it is in place.

In order to receive a classic shade you can try and attach batten and cording.  Next tie a knot and trim two cords as well as slide the condenser over the knot. Now carefully remove the pins and attach the tassel as well as the mountain shade and carefully and very nicely arrange the gathers so that it falls in place really well.
