Where Is The Steam Train Museum In Preston And Does It Have A Website?

Answer Question

The Ribble Steam Railway and Museum opened to the public in September 2005. The place allows visitors to travel along the one-and-a-half-mile dock and the riverside line and visit the museum and workshop. The line passes through the entrance of the Preston Marina via a swing bridge, and runs along the diverted River Ribble on the site where the docklands once existed. Passenger trains ply from Strand Road to the headquarters at Chain Caul Road (a distance of 1-1/2 miles). It is a historic ride. The Preston Docks has had a railway infrastructure in place since 1850. The final tar trains ran in 1995. The Steamport Southport group began to negotiate with the Preston Borough Council and in 1999, the group moved from the old engine shed at Southport to their new location at the Preston dockside.
