There are lots of designs that you could use for greetings cards. You could use different coloured card and create an abstract picture on another card if you want to go for an artistic look. Use dried flowers or create your own paper flowers for 'thank you' cards or cards for special anniversaries. You can even purchase stick-on numbers and messages for your cards.

Use white paper to create a wintery design for Christmas, or a simple Christmas tree with presents underneath.

There are some art programs that you can use to assist you with your card-making, such as photoshop.

Origami is another technique you could use for pop-up cards, which may be good for birthday cards for young children. Try different textures such as foil or tissue paper to create different effects. You could also spray different pieces of card with gold or silver spray paint for effect. Also try gold or silver pens.

Another technique is to cut pieces out of the card so that any designs on the inside will show through. It is a good idea to keep a pritt stick nearby so that you can stick down different pieces of card, flower designs etc.

Always remember to score your card down the middle so that it is easier to fold and to prevent creases. Scoring the card will create a nice fold.
