How Do You Make Dresses For Girls?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Most folks usually buy dresses for girls from the numerous clothing stores but it is also possible to make these clothes at home for half the price. Keep in mind though that you will need some tailoring skill. The trick is to make clothes that fit well and at the same time look moderately stylish.

First you should buy some material. This will really depend upon the child the dress is meant for and her preferences. Pink is a safe colour to choose for a girl. You could buy cotton, silk or synthetic material depending of course on the occasion you are making the outfit for. If you're making casual clothes perhaps cotton will be the best choice.

Next you should measure the child it is for. Measure the arms (for sleeves), waist, height, back and chest and note all of these down. Next you will need to find an appropriate pattern. You could either consult a tailoring book or some internet sites for ideas. Now comes the tricky part. Cut the cloth as per the measurements and the pattern. Now stitch the dress with the help of a sowing machine. All the best.
