Fettuccine is an Italian word. It means 'little ribbons' when translated into English. Fettuccine is a kind of Pasta. It is very thick and flat and these pasta ribbons may either be curled or loosely bent. Fettuccine has much resemblance to tagliatelle. It is made out of flour and egg. It may either be made fresh at home or is produced commercially. Dried varieties of fettuccine are also easily available. An immensely popular Italian dish which is usually found in American restaurants is fettuccine alfredo.

Fettuccine is also said to be perfect with heavy sauces preferably cheese, tomato and meat sauces. If one desires variety then fettuccine can also be sliced in half and put into soups or can be combined with vegetables and mayonnaise to prepare delicious salads.
