Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The word "disease" comes from the Middle English word "disese", derived from the Old French. It referred or meant something like the absence of ease. In its primary or narrow sense the word disease refers to a pathological condition in which the human body is invaded by pathogens that result in the body going weaker, infected, suffering pain or fever, and sometimes even death. In its broad sense the word can be used to refer to any sort of injuries, disorders, disabilities, infections, syndromes and deviant behaviour. When the word disease is used n a broader social sense it refers to something that is inherently wrong with society or a system. It can also be used as a derogatory term, as in "the white man was diseased with the sickness of greed" (Last of the Mohicans).
